  • With the aim of creating awareness among patients, society and Medical Practitioners Odisha Arthritis and Research Foundation Trust (OARFT) is founded in the year 2021.
  • The overall objectives are to raise awareness about the autoimmune & rheumatological diseases and their detrimental effects. and helping them to get access to better treatment.

Autoimmune diseases affecting multiple organs globally are on the rise, posing significant challenges. Delayed diagnosis and inadequate treatment put individuals at risk of losing their livelihoods. Factors contributing to this delay include patients’ lack of symptom awareness and limited access to specialized Rheumatology care. Additionally, primary healthcare providers often lack the necessary training to identify these diseases early, and healthcare infrastructure is often ill-equipped to provide comprehensive care.

Other Activities

Other than creating awareness, We have also organized various medical camps so that the people living in the rural areas also can avail the super specialization consultancy along with free medicines.
During this double crisis of COVID lockdown and cyclone Yaash, Members of Odisha arthritis & Rheumatology foundation Trust (OARFT) distributed dry food items and mask to residents of panabaraja area, Laxmisagar. During the rainy season we have distributed Umbrellas to Covid warriors, Supplying food in different covid hospitals.
During the recent flood in the district of Puri, Members of OARFT along with Jeevan Seva Foundation Distributed dry food items and drinking water.
To provide basic education to the under privileged students OARFT in association with Jeevan Seva foundation started “Ama Pathasala” at Do Muhi Basti of Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar.

One Rupee Clinic

We initiated the “One Rupee Arthritis Clinic,” offering specialized rheumatology consultations to low-income individuals for a nominal fee of just 1 rupee. This clinic operates on the first Thursday of every month, providing invaluable assistance to hundreds of underprivileged patients. The inauguration of this initiative was a momentous occasion, graced by the honorable MLA and Chairman of the “Sambad” Group, Mr. Soumya Ranjan Pattnaik, along with esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Prabhas Acharya, National Secretary of Lok Sevak Mandal, and Chief Administrative Officer of “The Samaj.” Additionally, Dr. Sanghamitra Pati, Director of RMRC, Dr. Sanjukta Mohapatra, President of the Cuttack Club, and Mr. Tejeswar Parida were present to mark this significant milestone. This initiative embodies our commitment to making specialized healthcare accessible to all, particularly those facing economic challenges.

Free Treatment of Patients

The treatment of autoimmune diseases can be financially burdensome, often leading to debilitating deformities for many individuals. In recognition of this challenge, OARFT has taken a proactive approach by adopting numerous patients from low socioeconomic backgrounds. The trust assumes the full financial responsibility for these patients, covering expenses such as medications, diagnostic investigations, and consultations. To date, we have extended our support to over 15 patients, ensuring they receive the comprehensive care they require without the added burden of treatment costs. This commitment underscores our dedication to alleviating the suffering of those in need and underscores our mission to provide accessible and inclusive healthcare for all.

Supporting Children's Education “Ama Pathasala”

“Education is the key to success.” In line with this belief, a humble yet significant initiative has been launched – “AMA PATHASHALA” in collaboration with the Jeevan Seva Foundation. Its primary objective is to offer educational opportunities to economically disadvantaged children residing in the “Do Muhi” Basti area of Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar. This initiative underscores the transformative power of education in empowering young minds and providing them with a brighter future.
On the occasion of Independence Day, we united to empower the young minds through the gift of education. OARFT (Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust) collaborated with the Jeevan Seba Foundation to distribute school bags to students of “Ama Pathasala.” The sheer joy on their faces as they received these new school bags was truly invaluable!

Flood Relief at Kanas, Puri

In a compassionate effort, the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT), in collaboration with the Jeevan Seva Foundation, extended a helping hand to those in need. They distributed essential provisions such as dry food and water bottles to the residents of Haladiapada, Kanas, Puri, an area significantly impacted by flooding. This initiative exemplifies the commitment to providing relief and support to communities facing adversity during challenging times.

International Yoga Day 2023

The transformative potential of yoga in healing the body is well recognized, and it holds particular promise in enhancing the quality of life for individuals grappling with Rheumatoid Arthritis. To raise awareness about the therapeutic influence of yoga on Rheumatoid Arthritis, a patient-focused initiative was orchestrated by OARFT (Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust) in collaboration with OARC (Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Centre) on International Yoga Day.Prof. Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida, Chief Consultant, and Medical Director at OARC, delivered an enlightening talk on the advantages of incorporating yoga into the lives of Rheumatoid Arthritis patients.The yoga session was skillfully conducted by Yoga Guru Shri Ganesh Gochhikar.

National Conference “ Catching the Eye in Rheumatology”

The Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT), in collaboration with the Odisha State Ophthalmological Society (OSOS) and the Association of Physicians (API) Odisha chapter, organized a significant one-day national conference at the Mayfair Convention Center in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This event, titled “OARC Update1,” was designed with the aim of providing a shared platform for meaningful discussions and the exchange of knowledge and research insights. It facilitated a dynamic dialogue between physicians and young researchers who are actively engaged in the fields of Ophthalmology and Rheumatology. The conference served as a valuable forum for the convergence of ideas and the advancement of these medical disciplines.

Free eye screening and awareness program 2023

The Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust, in partnership with the Jeevan Seva Foundation, hosted a free eye screening and awareness program in collaboration with Care Netram at Do Muhi Basti, Mancheswar.
The program was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida, the Medical Director of the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Center (OARC). Over 50 participants underwent eye screenings during the event, and Care Netram committed to providing free eye operations for individuals identified as needing them through this program. This initiative highlights the commitment to promoting eye health and accessibility to care within the community.

World Lupus Day 2023

Lupus, an autoimmune disease, prompts the body’s immune system to attack its own tissues and organs, affecting various systems like joints, skin, kidneys, and more. Raising awareness is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment to prevent life-threatening inflammation. World Lupus Day, observed on May 10th, underscores the importance of awareness. OARC organized a Lupus Awareness Rally today, led by Honorable MLA Sri Ananta Narayan Jena, Chairman, and inaugurated by local dignitaries, including Mayor Srimati Sulochana Das. We salute the resilience of Lupus patients.

World Arthritis Day 2023

In commemoration of #WorldArthritisDay, an impactful arthritis awareness rally titled “A Walk for Arthritis” was organized by the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Center (OARC) in collaboration with the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (#OARFT). This significant event took place from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., where approximately 50 participants marched while holding various informative placards.
Dr. Bijay Kumar Mishra, the President of the Indian Rheumatology Association Odisha, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He emphasized the critical importance of raising awareness for the early treatment of arthritis. This event signifies the commitment to increasing awareness and advocating for timely interventions to improve the lives of those affected by arthritis.

World AS Day 2023

To raise awareness about our cause, we organized an awareness camp where Professor Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida, the Medical Director of OARC and a renowned rheumatologist in the state, emphasized the importance of early disease detection and advancements in its treatment.In celebration of this occasion, OARFT arranged a walkathon titled “Walk Our AS Off.” This event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Bharat Panigrahi and Sri Hari Sankar Rout.

National Bone and Joint Day 2023

Bones form the structural framework of our bodies, providing shape and support, while joints facilitate our movements. However, as we age or encounter various health issues, bone and joint problems can arise, including conditions such as Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Osteoporosis. To promote awareness and understanding of these issues, Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT) conducted seminars and health check-ups aimed at educating people about bone and joint-related problems.

Free Health check up and Free Medicine Distribution Camp

The Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust, organized a free medical camp at Srikrishna Gurukula School in Jaygaon, Balikuda block, Jagatsingpur. The event was inaugurated by Senior Doctor Mr. Dayanidhi Jena, the former C.D.M.O. of Jagatsinghpur. The camp was graced by several healthcare professionals including Managing Director Prof. Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida and various specialists such as dermatologists, esthetologists, orthopedic surgeons, gastrologists, ENT specialists, diabetes specialists, gynecologists, pediatricians, oncologists, cardiologists, and ophthalmologists from different medical centers across Odisha.
Approximately 1000 patients benefited from the camp, receiving free medical services including blood tests, blood pressure checks, B.M.D. tests, and free medications. The initiative was supervised by Mr. Chaitanya Charan Parida, President of the Trust, ensuring comprehensive healthcare access for the local community.

International Yoga Day 2025

A yoga awareness camp was held in collaboration with Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT) and Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Center (OARC). Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida, Medical Director and noted rheumatologist of the state highlighted the importance of this day and the benefits of yoga in arthritis..

On this occasion, Yoga guru Shri Ganesh Gochikar joined the audience and taught the audience about helpful yoga for arthritis patients. All the staff of the Trust and Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Center were present and contributed to the smooth running of the programme.

Lupus, an autoimmune disease, prompts the body’s immune system to attack its own tissues and organs, affecting various systems like joints, skin, kidneys, and more. On World Lupus Day, the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT) organized an awareness camp dedicated to lupus. Dr. Manoj Chhotray, Popular President of the Indian Rheumatology Association’s Odisha Branch, attended as chief guest, highlighting that lupus patients can lead fulfilling lives with proper medical guidance and lifestyle adjustments. Odia cine star Gungun and senior journalist Girija Prasad Das joined the event as Guests of Honor, adding a special dimension to the occasion.

World AS Day 2025

The Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT), in collaboration with the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Center (OARC), organized a walkathon to raise awareness on the occasion of World ankylosing Spondylitis (A.S.) Day. Prof. Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida, Medical Director of OARC and a renowned rheumatologist and professor from Odisha, addressed the participants and spoke about significant advancements in the early detection and treatment of Ankylosing Spondylitis. Shri Susant Kumar Rout, Hon’ble MLA of Bhubaneswar South, graced the event as Chief Guest and inaugurated the walkathon, encouraging community participation and public awareness about this often-overlooked condition.
In continuation of the awareness efforts, a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session was also organized for medical students and faculty of Hi-Tech Medical College at the college’s conference hall in association with the Medicine department of Hitech medical college. The session aimed to educate young doctors and medical professionals on the importance of early detection in preventing long-term disability caused by Ankylosing Spondylitis.

National Conference “ Breathing Deep into Lung Rheumatology” 2024

The Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (ORFT) organized a one-day national conference titled “Breathing Deep into Lung Rheumatology” on 4th August 2024 at Hotel Mayfair Convention Center, Bhubaneswar. Held in collaboration with the Indian Rheumatology Association (IRA), Association of Physicians of India (API) – Odisha State Branch, and Odisha Chest Society, the event focused on the Rheumatology Pulmonology interface.
The conference featured several national and international experts, including Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Alakendu Ghosh, and attracted around 250 doctors and medical students from across India. Distinguished speakers shared insights on autoimmune and lung-related conditions, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration. A special moment of the event was the presentation of the ORAFT Tribute – 2024 Honour to Dr. Amita Agarwal for her outstanding contributions to Rheumatology. The conference successfully fostered academic exchange and strengthened ties across specialties for better patient care.

Rajo Festival with “Ama Pathasala”

On the occasion of the vibrant Raja Festival, members of the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT) celebrated with the children of AMA Pathasala in collaboration with Jeevan Seva Foundation. The team shared festive cheer by cutting and distributing the traditional Poda Pitha, a symbolic delicacy of the festival. To add to the celebration and support the children, umbrellas were also distributed, bringing smiles and joy to the young faces. The event reflected the spirit of community bonding and cultural pride, while also reinforcing OARFT’s ongoing commitment to outreach, care, and social responsibility beyond the field of medicine.
