One Rupee Clinic

We have started “One Rupee Arthritis Clinic” where in patients from low-income group can avail the super specialty rheumatology consultation by paying 1 rupee. The clinic run on 1st Thursday of every month and hundreds of underprivileged patients have been benefitted. This was inaugurated by honorable MLA and Chairman, “Sambad” Group Mr. Soumya Ranjan Pattnaik in presence of Chief Guest. Dr. Prabhas Acharya, National Secretary Lok Sevak Mandal and Chief Administrative Officer of “The Samaj”, Dr Sanghamitra Pati, Director – RMRC, Dr. Sanjukta Mohapatra, President Cuttack Club and MrTejeswar Parida.

Free Treatment of Patients

Treatment of autoimmune disease can be costly affair for many and because of this many suffers from deformity. SoOARFT have adopted many patients from low socio economic background and the complete treatment cost of these patients are born by the trust which includes medicines, Investigations and consultations. Till now we have adopted more than 15 patients.

Supporting Children's Education “Ama Pathasala”

“Education is the key to success.” In line with this belief, a humble yet significant initiative has been launched – “AMA PATHASHALA” in collaboration with the Jeevan Seva Foundation. Its primary objective is to offer educational opportunities to economically disadvantaged children residing in the “Do Muhi” Basti area of Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar. This initiative underscores the transformative power of education in empowering young minds and providing them with a brighter future.
On the occasion of Independence Day, we united to empower the young minds through the gift of education. OARFT (Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust) collaborated with the Jeevan Seba Foundation to distribute school bags to students of “Ama Pathasala.” The sheer joy on their faces as they received these new school bags was truly invaluable!

Free Health check up and Free Medicine Distribution Camp

The Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust, organized a free medical camp at Srikrishna Gurukula School in Jaygaon, Balikuda block, Jagatsingpur. The event was inaugurated by Senior Doctor Mr. Dayanidhi Jena, the former C.D.M.O. of Jagatsinghpur. The camp was graced by several healthcare professionals including Managing Director Prof. Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida and various specialists such as dermatologists, esthetologists, orthopedic surgeons, gastrologists, ENT specialists, diabetes specialists, gynecologists, pediatricians, oncologists, cardiologists, and ophthalmologists from different medical centers across Odisha.
Approximately 1000 patients benefited from the camp, receiving free medical services including blood tests, blood pressure checks, B.M.D. tests, and free medications. The initiative was supervised by Mr. Chaitanya Charan Parida, President of the Trust, ensuring comprehensive healthcare access for the local community.

National Conference “ Catching the Eye in Rheumatology” 2022

The Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT), in collaboration with the Odisha State Ophthalmological Society (OSOS) and the Association of Physicians (API) Odisha chapter, organized a significant one-day national conference at the Mayfair Convention Center in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This event, titled “OARC Update1,” was designed with the aim of providing a shared platform for meaningful discussions and the exchange of knowledge and research insights. It facilitated a dynamic dialogue between physicians and young researchers who are actively engaged in the fields of Ophthalmology and Rheumatology. The conference served as a valuable forum for the convergence of ideas and the advancement of these medical disciplines.

National Conference “ Looking at Rheumatology Through the Skin” 2023

Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (ORFT) organized a one-day National Conference on Rheumatology-Dermatology Interface “Looking at Rheumatology through Skin” at Hotel Swasti Premium, Bhubaneswar on 01 October 2023 in association with Indian Rheumatology Association (IRA), Association of Physicians of India (API), Odisha State Branch and Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists, (IADVL) Odisha State Branch assisted in this program. Several national and international
speakers participated in the program and presented many important information. About 200 doctors and undergraduate students of Rheumatology, Dermatology Departments from different parts of the country participated in this program. Prof. Dr. Nivedita Pani, Director, (PGIMER and Capital Hospital) participated as the chief guest and presented many important facts.
Odisha Branch Chairman of API Dr. Dr. Manoj Chhotray, Senior Physician and Vice Dean of Indian College of Physicians, Odisha Branch Dr. Biswajit Samal, Professor of Kim’s College Dr. Prashant Padhan, Managing Director of Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Center, Professor Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida, and many senior physicians attended and highlighted how collaboration between different departments can benefit patient care. Internationally renowned professor Dr. Rohini Handa and Prof. Dr. Vikas Agarwal were awarded with “ORAFT-2023 Honour” for their outstanding contribution in the field of field of Rheumatology.

National Conference “ Breathing Deep into Lung Rheumatology” 2024

The Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (ORFT) organized a one-day national conference titled “Breathing Deep into Lung Rheumatology” on 4th August 2024 at Hotel Mayfair Convention Center, Bhubaneswar. Held in collaboration with the Indian Rheumatology Association (IRA), Association of Physicians of India (API) – Odisha State Branch, and Odisha Chest Society, the event focused on the Rheumatology-Pulmonology interface.

To celebrate this occasion OARFT has Arranged a free physiotherapy camp for the patients suffering from Axial Spondyloarthritis. To grace this occasion Dr. Nilamber Rath, Mr Akash Das Mohapatra also Participated and discussed on the Issue.

The conference featured several national and international experts, including Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Alakendu Ghosh, and attracted around 250 doctors and medical students from across India. Distinguished speakers shared insights on autoimmune and lung-related conditions, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration. A special moment of the event was the presentation of the ORAFT Tribute – 2024 Honour to Dr. Amita Agarwal for her outstanding contributions to Rheumatology. The conference successfully fostered academic exchange and strengthened ties across specialties for better patient care.

International Yoga Day 2025

A yoga awareness camp was held in collaboration with Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT) and Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Center (OARC). Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida, Medical Director and noted rheumatologist of the state highlighted the importance of this day and the benefits of yoga in arthritis.. On this occasion, Yoga guru Shri Ganesh Gochikar joined the audience and taught the audience about helpful yoga for arthritis patients. All the staff of the Trust and Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Center were present and contributed to the smooth running of the programme.

Lupus Day 2025

Lupus, an autoimmune disease, prompts the body’s immune system to attack its own tissues and organs, affecting various systems like joints, skin, kidneys, and more. On World Lupus Day, the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT) organized an awareness camp dedicated to lupus. Dr. Manoj Chhotray, Popular President of the Indian Rheumatology Association’s Odisha Branch, attended as chief guest, highlighting that lupus patients can lead fulfilling lives with proper medical guidance and lifestyle adjustments. Odia cine star Gungun and senior journalist Girija Prasad Das joined the event as Guests of Honor, adding a special dimension to the occasion.

World AS Day 2025

The Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT), in collaboration with the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Center (OARC), organized a walkathon to raise awareness on the occasion of World ankylosing Spondylitis (A.S.) Day. Prof. Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Parida, Medical Director of OARC and a renowned rheumatologist and professor from Odisha, addressed the participants and spoke about significant advancements in the early detection and treatment of Ankylosing Spondylitis. Shri Susant Kumar Rout, Hon’ble MLA of Bhubaneswar South, graced the event as Chief Guest and inaugurated the walkathon, encouraging community participation and public awareness about this often-overlooked condition.
In continuation of the awareness efforts, a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session was also organized for medical students and faculty of Hi-Tech Medical College at the college’s conference hall in association with the Medicine department of Hitech medical college. The session aimed to educate young doctors and medical professionals on the importance of early detection in preventing long-term disability caused by Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Rajo Festival with “Ama Pathasala”

On the occasion of the vibrant Raja Festival, members of the Odisha Arthritis and Rheumatology Foundation Trust (OARFT) celebrated with the children of AMA Pathasala in collaboration with Jeevan Seva Foundation. The team shared festive cheer by cutting and distributing the traditional Poda Pitha, a symbolic delicacy of the festival. To add to the celebration and support the children, umbrellas were also distributed, bringing smiles and joy to the young faces. The event reflected the spirit of community bonding and cultural pride, while also reinforcing OARFT’s ongoing commitment to outreach, care, and social responsibility beyond the field of medicine.
